We are now accepting listings for homemade face masks. With new guidance encouraging individuals to wear masks in public, the makers and DIYers of Mercari have an opportunity to make a difference by getting more masks to more people. Starting today, until May 31, we will donate 50% of proceeds from selling fees on all homemade masks. The donation will be made to First Responders Children’s Foundation, who provide support to first responders and their families enduring hardships during the coronavirus pandemic.

Here are some of our sellers making masks during this time.

Keep an eye on our Instagram as we continue to provide updates and feature our community of makers and their homemade masks.

And again, If you are able, we urge you to donate any surplus PPE you or your family do not need to your local hospital. This includes respirator masks, hand sanitizer, and disinfecting wipes. You can find hospitals that are actively seeking donations here. While you still cannot list these specific PPE on Mercari, we want to help direct much needed resources to places in need.

Please note that while you can now list your homemade masks on Mercari, we ask that you don’t over-promise the item’s effectiveness.

Thanks for being a part of our community. We’re more inspired than ever by each of you and your efforts to support your local communities.

Team Mercari ❤
